Information Pages 📋
Summary: Information Pages — Please visit the other pages from the drop down list to view all of our relevant information pages. This page summarises key safety rules for inflatables. It highlights standards, testing, anchorage, access/egress and siting. Read on for clear, actionable guidance. 🏰⚠️
Safety — Our Priority ✅
Here at Wizard Bouncy Castles safety is our number one priority. All equipment meets UK/European standards (BS EN 14960:2013). Equipment is tested annually. All electrical items are PAT tested every 6–12 months. All services and equipment are covered by Public Liability Insurance (PLI) up to £5m.
Key safety facts 🔍
- Standard: BS EN 14960:2013.
- Annual testing of inflatables.
- PAT testing every 6–12 months for electrical items.
- Public Liability Insurance up to £5,000,000.
Anchorage 4.2.1 🪝
Anchorage is crucial to prevent movement and overturning. Follow these rules every time you site an inflatable outdoors or where stability could be compromised.
- Minimum six anchorage points per inflatable. They must be distributed around the perimeter. (Number calculated per Annex A.)
- Maximum outdoor wind speed for use: 38 km/h (Force 5 Beaufort). 🌬️ See Annex B for details.
- Each anchorage point and all anchorage components (ropes, webbings, metal fittings, stakes, weights) must withstand 1600 N. (1600 N ≈ 163 kg.)
- Force direction: 30°–45° to ground. Ground stakes must incline away from the direction of force.
- Ground stake minimum: 380 mm length, 16 mm diameter, rounded tops. Exposed stake above ground must not exceed 25 mm.
- Indoors: use anchorage or ballast when necessary to maintain stability.
- On hard standing: use equally effective methods (ground fittings, sandbags or weights) capable of supporting 1600 N.
Access / egress 4.2.3 🚪
Design and surfacing protect users during falls and exits. Follow these dimensional and surfacing rules to minimise injury risk.
- Free height of fall on any open side: ≤630 mm unloaded; ≤600 mm loaded.
- Impact area extent on open sides: at least 1.2 m.
- Impact attenuation: surfacing must meet EN 1177 so critical fall height ≥630 mm.
- Impact areas of adjacent inflatables or play equipment must not overlap.
- Acceptable impact-attenuating materials include soil, turf and sand. Impact-absorbing mats may be used to meet EN 1177.
Siting 4.2.8 📍
Choose safe sites. Keep inflatables clear of hazards and on suitable ground.
- Sit well away from overhead power lines and hazards with projections (fences, trees, etc.).
- Do not erect on slopes greater than 5% in any direction.
- Ensure the site is clear of debris and sharp objects on or embedded in the surface.
- If a perimeter fence is used for crowd control: place it at least 1.8 m from walled sides and 3.5 m from open sides.
- Gateway width for perimeter fences: 1 m.
Follow these guidelines to ensure safe operation. For more details, consult the related information pages in the drop down list. 🎯
