Setup and Anchorage
This page has been created to show the different types of surfaces and the anchorage needed to secure the inflatable safely and sufficiently. If you have any questions or require advise on the type of set up you require please feel free to contact us on 07522 331905 and we'll do our best to assist you.
Anchorage 4.2.1
Each inflatable shall have at least six anchorage points. The number of anchorage points shall be calculated in accordance with Annex A. They shall be distributed around the perimeter of the inflatable. The maximum wind-speed in which inflatables shall be used outdoors is 38 km/h (Force 5 on the Beaufort Scale); see Annex B.
When used outdoors, the inflatable shall be secured to the ground , preferably with ground stakes where the ground is suitable. Each anchorage point on the inflatable and all of the components of the anchorage and/ or ballast system, e.g. ropes, webbings, metal attachments, stakes, weights, shall withstand a force of 1600 N. The direction of the exerted force shall be at an angle of the ground of 30° to 45°. Ground stakes shall incline away from the direction of the exerted force. Ground stakes shall be a minimum of 380 mm in length and a minimum of 16 mm in diameter and their tops shall be rounded. The system shall expose no more than 25 mm of the stake above ground level. When the inflatable is used indoors, the anchorage and/or ballast system should be used when necessary to maintain stability.
On hard standing where ground stakes cannot be used, the inflatable shall be secured to the ground by equally effective method, e.g. attaching each of the anchorage points to fittings already fitted in the ground, or to sandbags or other weights, if these are capable of supporting the 1600 N load.
1600 Newton is equivalent to 163kg
GRASS= STAKES

For grass set ups we use 380 mm stakes which penetrate the ground in order to anchor the inflatable sufficiently.
ARTIFICIAL GRASS = SANDBAGS OR STAKES (163kg per anchorage point)
For artificial grass set ups sand bags will be needed. It is required by law that 163kg is used to anchor each anchorage point, our sand bags are 25kg each, so that is equivalent to 6.5 sandbags per anchorage point. Unfortunately due to the amount of sand weight needed we are unable to offer this as an option and by selecting artificial grass as a set up option, you agree to us anchoring the bouncy castle/inflatable with stakes as shown under “grass set up” above. However, we accept no liability should this method ruin your grass.
TARMAC= THUNDERBOLTS

For tarmac set ups we drill a 10 mm hole and use a 10 mm thunder bolt and a solid steel washer on every anchor point.
CONCRETE= THUNDERBOLTS

For concrete set ups we drill a 10 mm hole and use a 10 mm thunder bolt and a solid steel washer on every anchor point.
SLABS= SANDBAGS (163kg per anchorage)
UNFORTUNATELY WE DO NOT SET UP ON THESE SURFACES

For slab set ups sand bags will be needed.It is required by law that 163kg is used to anchor each anchorage point, our sandbags are 25kg each, so that is equivalent to 6.5 sandbags per anchorage point. unfortunately due to the amount of sand weight needed we are unable to offer this as an option.
BLOCK PAVING= SANDBAGS (163kg per anchorage point)
UNFORTUNATELY WE DO NOT SET UP ON THESE SURFACES

For block paving or artificial grass set ups sand bags will be needed. It is required by law that 163kg is used to anchor each anchorage point, our sand bags are 25kg each, so that is equivalent to 6.5 sandbags per anchorage point. unfortunately due to the amount of sand weight needed we are unable to offer this as an option.
SHINGLE, STONES, SLATE AND GRAVEL= UNFORTUNATELY WE DO NOT SET UP ON THESE SURFACES
